Felix Ngoka

Felix Ngoka, the third of six children born to Sylvanus and Mercy Ngoka, knew he wanted to be a doctor. So, in 1960 when just 20 years of age, he traveled to London, England where he began his medical studies at Chatham Cross Hospital. He graduated from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland in 1971. He completed his residency program in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Western Infirmary and Queen Mother’s Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland and Marsden Green Maternity Hospital in Birmingham, England.

Here he found himself in a very small community, Pangman, where he spent a year before moving to Regina as a General Practitioner fin 1975. Dr. Ngoka opened and practised in Hillsdale Medical Clinic, North Regina Medical Clinic and Dental Clinic, South Albert Medical Centre and 13th Avenue Medical Clinic. He was the sole physician in charge of the Emergency Department at the Plains Health Centre when it opened in 1976. He also did some pioneering work in Los Angeles, California opening industrial clinics there. He also worked in 1985 in Wolseley Memorial Hospital. He retired in October 2004.

Felix married Grace Okoro in 1977 and they raised three children, Ikenna, Chinedu, and Nnenna. Grace studied Social Work at the University of Regina and continues to work in the field. Together they have raised a family of three, all graduates of Campbell Collegiate who have gone on to further studies at the University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan and Queen’s University in Ontario.

Dr. Ngoka has the most important trait of a good doctor. He has a warm smile and laughs easily making anyone feel relaxed and comfortable.
